I would first like to thank you for taking time out of your day to learn about our laboratory and my back ground in this industry.

The history of Functional Esthetics Dental Lab. owned and operated by Douglas Frye and his wife Mary (Muffy) Frye is as follows.

In 1981 I graduated with my Applied Science Degree for dental technology, knowing that I wanted a career in this field. In 1983 I received my C.D.T. accreditation, I have worked in several laboratories from finishing partial frameworks, to becoming the head ceramist and in charge of the ceramic department at two different quality labs. I have always had one goal in mind, being the best ceramist in the area.

In 1987 I was chosen by the 3M Corporation to study under “Yamamoto”, one of the best technicians in the world. This experience changed my whole outlook on dental technology, not only did I want to be the best in the area but one of the best in the world.

I then left my position to start my own lab in the office of the late Dr. John Sheridan, a great learning experience that I was lucky to have for a year before moving on.

Early 1988 I was hired by 3M Corporation to give my first NBC approved seminar in advanced dental ceramics. This was the start of my 20 years of being a NBC approved clinician.

I have lectured for most of the leading dental manufactures on advanced dental ceramics.

In 1998 my wife and I decided to open our sister company “Re-Creating Nature™”, an approved National Board of Certification Company. We have lectured to countless number of dentist’s, C.D.T.’s and technicians throughout the past 10 years.

In 2008 my work was picked by Dentsply for their marketing advertisement of “Radica” a provisional material.
